Table Tennis are the fifth sport to announce UK School Games squad

Following the announcement of the badminton, fencing, gymnastics and swimming squads, we are delighted to bring you the table tennis squad for the 2009 UK School Games.

Boys and girls teams from England (Midlands/NorthEast/North West/South East/South West), Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales will compete at the Newport Tennis Centre from the 3rd to 6th September 2009. Table Tennis is also one of the three sports at the UK School Games to have a disabilty element, competitors will compete in three categories - standing, wheelchair and learning disability at the 2009 Games.

This year will see the return of Karina LeFevre from England North East who will be trying to defend her girls singles title, whilst silver medalist Emily Bates from England Midlands will be aiming and go one step further in Newport.

The long awaited 2010 Sainsbury's UK School Games gets underway tomorrow morning in the North East of England with a launch event in Performance Square at The Sage with Olympic gold medallist Darren Campbell and Chief Executive of the Youth Sport Trust Steve Grainger. Spectators will be entertained by children from Gateshead, collectively known as Dance Bites, taking part in a contemporary dance performance inspired by the 10 sports represented in the Sainsbury's UK School Games.
