The UK School Games Begin!

Competitors, team staff, volunteers, officials, dignitaries, friends and family joined to celebrate the opening of the inaugural UK School Games.
1000 competitors were joined by Scottish Minister for Sport Patricia Ferguson, Chair of the Millennium Commission and Minister for Sport, Richard Caborn, Duke of Gloucester and five-time gold medallist, Sir Steve Redgrave.
After oaths were read by athletes, officials and volunteers an audience of 3000 watched a musical, acrobatic masterpiece linking themes and images of the UK School Games.
