1. What is your role in the delivery of the UKSG?

I am the Workforce Development Officer for the West of England Sport Trust, one strand of my role is volunteer development. For the UK School Games I am the lead for Volunteers recruitment and welfare.  This role includes the recruitment, training, and deployment of the volunteers in the different roles across the event.

2. What will the volunteers day to day role be in the UKSG? 

The volunteers will be deployed across numerous roles throughout the Games. These roles include Team Attaches, Athlete Village Assistants, Media Assistants,  Event Crew - including Ticket/programme selling,  and Sport Liaisons. The volunteers will be working in small teams at each venue.  Each Volunteer role is pivotal to the event, and will be crucial to the smooth running of the event.  

3. Why is Bristol and Bath such a good place to host the games?

Both Bath and Bristol boast fantastic sporting facilities dedicated to sporting excellence, and host a devoted network of organisations across the West of England who are all dedicated to improving the provision of sport and physical activity, increasing opportunities for all the community to be part of.

Throughout our strong network of local partners there are strong links into the student workforce and the wider community to support the Volunteer workforce needed for the Games. This has enabled us to provide a wide range of opportunities for local people to become a part of such a prestigious event.

4. Did you play sport at school?

Yes, any sport that was available! I also still play netball for a local club in Bristol.

5. What sports are you looking forward to watching at the UKSG?

I'm really looking forward to watching all the sports during the Games. It will be fantastic to watch these sports played at such a high standard.
