A 13-YEAR-OLD from Walsall today became the youngest person picked to represent Britain in Beijing this year.

University of the West of England
The University of the West of England (UWE) is a modern university in the thriving city of Bristol. UWE is a very popular university with more than 30,000 students and 3,000 staff spread across four campuses in and around Bristol. The university has a reputation for providing high education and training to students and has recently has invested £200 million in new facilities for a new Student Village and Sports Centre.
All Weather Pitch - HOCKEY
The University of the West of England is home to an Olympic standard hockey pitch, one of the finest hockey facilities in the United Kingdom. As a key partner in the National Hockey Performance Centre Network and a home for a Junior Performance Centre, UWE Bristol is a hub for hockey in the South West of England. The newly installed, water based pitch is set to be the host of many major hockey competitions for years to come.
Centre for Sport (Sports Hall) – BADMINTON
The Centre for Sport has hosted numerous Junior England Badminton events and has been specifically designed with Badminton in mind. The walls are painted “Badminton Blue” and there even is an approved ventilation system ensuring no shuttle interference!
Filton College provides a wide range of further education courses for over 2,000 14-19 year olds. Located just north of Bristol city centre, the new WISE campus (West of England Institute of Specialist Education) was designed especially to house specialist provision in sport, art and performing arts. The facilities at the new WISE campus are the focal point of the Bristol Academy of Sport. It enables students to pursue their sporting interests, whilst obtaining academic qualifications from a wide range of further and higher education qualifications.
Indoor ‘3rd Generation’ Football Pitch – GYMNASTICS
WISE campus has an incredible indoor 40m x 60m artificial 3rd generation football pitch. This will be transformed into a fully functional sprung floor for the gymnastics competition making the floor bouncy and softening the impact of landings to enable the gymnast to gain height when tumbling. The apparatus required for a full gymnastics program will be in place to fantastic performances.
Indoor Sports Hall – JUDO
The Indoor Sports Hall will play host to the judo competition. A 320 square metre International standard dojo will be created in a theatre style arena. Steeply raked seating will concentrate focus and help to generate an intense atmosphere for the players and spectators.
Bath
University of Bath
The University of Bath is consistently one of the top rated universities in the UK with an international reputation for research and teaching. The University’s sports facilities are first-class and host some of the country’s top academies and performance centres. Elite athletes and the public of all abilities and ages can enjoy the state of the art facilities available.
Outdoor Athletics Track – ATHLETICS
The facilities at the University of Bath include an international eight-lane track with full jumps and throws facilities which is adjacent to an indoor sprint track. The University is designated as a UK Athletics Performance Centre with a world class medical and sports science support system funded by Team Bath and Lottery funding.
Sports Training Village – VOLLEYBALL
The multi-purpose hall can be adapted for several sports including Netball, Volleyball, Basketball, Indoor Football and Fencing to name a few. State of the art Taraflex floors will be laid onto the wooden sprung floor to create 2 international sized courts.
Sports Training Village – FENCING
The eight-court tennis hall will be split in half and transformed into the Fencing arena. Using just 4 of the courts, 6 pistes will be laid, including 1 finals piste, each with designated seating to ensure that no one misses out on any of the action.
Sports Training Village - TABLE TENNIS
The eight-court tennis hall will be shared with Fencing and transformed into the host for the table tennis competition. 12 tables will be set out on ETTA’s Taraflex flooring.
